Relate
Deanna Stanley
I read my poetry out loud, and I share them with my friends, coworkers and associates in the hopes that someday, somehow the loneliness might end.
The more I seem to write, the more that I release. The more I realize that people are finally listening to me.
There's no way I ever thought my pain would ever be so deep, some wounds go back 40 years and that is just the peak.
Deep enough to channel for someone else to go through, as if it's just a story plot you realize how nobody really knows you.
I thought it was just me who felt the emptiness from the beginning, The more I write the more people relate and it feels like it has no ending.
They tell me it's great and how they can relate, and that's when I realized, it wasn't just my fate.
Pain is something we all encounter, Mine looks different than yours and all of it matters.
Is this a test or even a lesson when it's all said and done it could be a blessing.
Could be all of what life is and it's actually just testing, your strength and your faith, patience and connection.
Can you relate to these words that I'm reading from this paper? The words of my skeletons, my fears and my anger?
Writing helps me heal, I pray it helps you too because before I ever started, I never knew something was hurting you.
Thank you, God, for using me to release and express myself, in a way that isn't easy while helping someone else.
Where I can help others look up and see that hurting is ok, it shapes you into who were meant to be and to be strong for another day.
Although expressing our hurt doesn't come easily, I pray that you give me strength continue to use me through everything while taking the pain away.
Use me for your works Lord, and give me strength to say, "no matter what the past has on me, today is a new day."
I hope I make you proud Lord, somewhere along the way, I pray you continue to use me and heal others through their pain.
